If someone wanted to become a Sales Executive, what key skills and attitude would they need?
They must be hard working, passionate and caring. I love the cars I sell and I am knowledgeable about them – this really helps but most of all I really care about my customers I want them to be happy and I want to provide the best experience I can.
What is your favourite part of your job?
The people I meet, I have customers who now feel like friends – they sometimes pop in for a coffee and a chat!
Three words that sum up the people in your team?
Supportive, helpful and crazy!
What does your place of work do to help its colleagues maintain work-life balance?
We have 2 day off a week, we are encouraged to take these & our holidays – we also socialise a lot together outside of work as we are all really good friends.
How do you know you are making a difference?
When I get lovely feedback and reviews from my customers – it makes all the hard work worthwhile.
How have you developed since working for Sytner?
Not only have I progressed in to a job role I love, I feel I have become more confident in myself.
What’s been one of your proudest moments working at Sytner?
When I receive comments from customers saying things like ‘I will only ever buy cars from Katie now’ that makes me so proud, I have couple who have now bought 2 cars from me and every time they travel over 2 hours just to come and see me – they now say they won’t go elsewhere.
What advice would you give to recent new hires?
Work hard – you get out what you put in, also take an interest in every department, learn how they work – you never know where you might be in a few years!
If you could go back and give yourself some career advice when you were 15 years old, what would it be?
You can achieve anything you want if you focus enough, I never thought I would be ‘good enough’ to work in sales as I’d seen how brilliant some of the Sales Executives were, but it just shows through hard work you can do anything you want.
