Sytner Group hold Photography Masterclass for Competition Winners
As part of our commitment to Learning and Development, we recently held a Group wide photography competition that came with the prize of a two day photography masterclass in various locations throughout Wales. Ran by our Photography Co-ordinator, the masterclass would see the winners learn valuable photography techniques whilst also helping to create stunning images for the Sytner website.
Our three winners - Jonathan McDougall (Reading Audi), Ashley Said (Sytner Cardiff) and Philip Anthony (Sytner Coventry) – were picked by a panel of judges from a large pool of talented entrants; no easy task due to the great photography presented. To be in with a chance of winning the fantastic prize, entrants had to send in pictures from their workplace that showcased what it is like to work within their dealership.
The prize saw the three winners join our Photography Co-ordinator for a two day photoshoot in Wales; with the photos set to appear in a number of places across our website.
Accompanied by five stunning cars, the winners spent their time on the shoot learning how to take everything from panning shots (where the car passes by a static photographer) to shooting from the back of a moving vehicle and all of the H&S requirements that go with it (using a harness, road craft, paperwork, etc).
Following each day’s shoot, the training headed indoors (or into one of the cars during periods of heavy rain) for Mark to show the three winners top tips when it comes to editing in programs such as Photoshop. Displaying their existing talents within these programs, these sessions turned into valuable skill sharing lessons that everyone involved benefitted from.
Speaking about their two day’s spent shooting and learning, Phil, Ash and Jon all commented on how they had thoroughly enjoyed their experience and that they would be able to take the skills learned and apply them to their roles within the Group.
With a strong ethos to promote from within, making sure that colleagues have the space to progress is of great importance to the Group. Alongside special opportunities like this, our award winning Learning and Development team run training courses throughout the year that aim to give all Sytner Group colleagues access to continual development opportunities. Following the recent photoshoot Ash, Jon and Phil are busy editing the many photos that they took – as soon as we have more, we’ll be sure to share them with you! Make sure that you follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin to ensure you don’t miss them.
