When did you start working at Sytner Group?
I started working at Guy Salmon Land Rover Knutsford in October 2018 as a reservation executive.
If someone wanted to become a Service Advisor, what key skills and attitude would they need?
If someone was looking to become a Service Advisor, then they would need to be positive, organised, customer focussed and dedicated, as it is a fast-paced environment.
What is your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part is interacting with customers and ensuring that everyone has a pleasant and positive experience regardless of why the vehicle is in the workshop.
Three words that sum up the people in your team?
Friendly, fun, and extremely helpful/supportive.
What does your place of work do to help its colleagues maintain work-life balance?
We have quarterly outings as a dealership; bowling, BBQ, Christmas party. We also arrange department nights out, meals out, and take part in fundraising events.
How do you know you are making a difference?
All of our customer receive a questionnaire after they have visited our dealership, which informs us on how well their experience went or where we need to improve going forward. We are also recognised individually within the business via an ‘employee of the month’ and ‘high five’ scheme. We also have monthly reviews to ensure we are getting the correct training and support required, and attend training course to help us to provide a better service to our customers and develop our knowledge in the industry.
Can you tell me about the culture in your workplace?
The culture in my workplace is very welcoming, friendly, upbeat and everyone is willing to help and support one another. I would definitely say that it is the best working environment that I have worked in.
How have you developed since working for Sytner?
Since working for Sytner I have become more outgoing and confident. I have also developed my knowledge in an industry which I have never been immersed in previously.
What’s been one of your proudest moments working at Sytner?
Received ‘Employee of the Month’ and also, being promoted to a Service Advisor after 6-7 months of working for Sytner after having no automotive background prior to joining.
What advice would you give to recent new hires?
Not to be afraid to ask questions when unsure.
