Sacha Williams

HR Manager- JLRVS -

When did you start working at Sytner Group?

I started on the 17th September 2018, after spending 12 years with Tesco.

If someone wanted to become a Divisional HR Manager, what key skills and attitude would they need?

Friendly and empathetic, great with people, fantastic organisational skills, a key influencer, flexible.

What is your favourite part of your job?

That every day is different and unpredictable! Being with colleagues and being there to support them. I love helping people reaching their career goals and recruiting great talent.

Three words that sum up the people in your team?

Inspirational, dedicated and supportive.

What does your place of work do to help its colleagues maintain work-life balance?

Because I am field based I can fit in the little family things around my role now which I could never have done before as I have all of the hours in the day available to me. I have also helped to develop a 4 day working pattern for Service Advisors which has been really positive.

How do you know you are making a difference?

Colleagues like to see me and have started to come and find me when I’m on site for a catch up which I love.

Can you tell me about the culture in your workplace?

Everyone is so supportive and friendly here; no one is ever too busy to help! It’s a really honest and open environment where colleagues are at the heart of everything we do.

How have you developed since working for Sytner?

I’ve grown in my own self confidence definitely, as I am trusted to make the right decisions for my colleagues.

What’s been one of your proudest moments working at Sytner?

Seeing the people around me grow and develop as a result of my positive impact, giving others that degree of self-belief is amazing.

What advice would you give to recent new hires?

Spend lots of time in your sites; get to know your people and their roles. Everything else will come.

If you could go back and give yourself some career advice when you were 15 years old, what would it be?

That everything happens for a reason and if it’s meant to be then it will happen. Everything worth having is worth working hard for!
